Academic stress kills at least two American students each year thus according to recent studies done on Student Mentality. Before we learn how to deal with this critical issue, we first need to have an in depth knowledge as to the root course of it all. Mostly, it is being caused by the people around us without even knowing. These ranges from the teacher criticizing you for a low score, parental drive to get into a particular college or a sponsor expecting too much from you. In case you do not know how to deal with stress, it can turn to be a very dangerous tool and cause harm. There are quite a number of things to do to reduce stress levels.
1: CHANGE HOW YOU THINK
Thinking negatively about a particular issue will generate the mind to have a negative attitude that it will happen. Instead of focusing on the negative part, come up with ideas on how to improve on the issue and take your time to plan each task carefully.
2: LOWER YOUR GOALS
Setting high standards can actually stress you up especially when you cannot achieve them. Set small goals over a short period and by accomplishing them, you feel the need to set more. For instance as a student instead of setting goals like being the best in the class, you could set goals to improve by a certain percentage. Continuous improvements will land you to being the best.
3: EXAM PERIODS.
Staying balanced during exam periods will make you feel relaxed. Do not struggle to stay too focused as doing that would actually make you forget things. Never intend to read much in a short period, this will confuse you and stress you out when the actual exam arrives.
4: TAKING EXAMS
Students are advised to take exams step by step instead of looking at the overall picture. Doing this will make you have manageable bits that are easy to work with. If you have an essay to write, start the project early having divided them into bits, tackle each at a given time but not at once.
